The decluttering guru Marie Kondo made the news this year when she announced that she had “kind of given up” on tidying her home after the birth of her son in 2021. “Enough with the cleaning brags!” headlines screamed glibly. With three young children, I say Kondo has her priorities straight — and they don’t lie with sageing her bread bin. (To be fair, Kondo would never be so woo-woo: she’d put a pre-printed adhesive label on it instead, probably in a calming shade of ecru.)
Some people have therapy, others have cleaning. I have both — and I wouldn’t part with either for love nor money. Whoever coined the phrase “a tidy house is a sign of a wasted life” has never experienced the
