1 Teenagers see antisocial behaviour orders (ASBOs) as a “badge of honour”, according to a survey by the Youth Justice Board. Many youth workers, and some judges and magistrates, believe that ASBOs are being overused because they require lower levels of evidence than full court prosecutions, and have little positive impact on behaviour.

2 The Armed Forces are undermanned by about 5,000 recruits, says a report from the National Audit Office. As well as the death toll in overseas campaigns and bullying allegations, Britain’s obesity crisis is also to blame. Only a third of all teenagers would pass the body-mass index set for recruits, the report adds.
