Times artist creates stunning Games poster on his iPad

Tim Vyner’s incredible poster of the Games. Turn the volume up ...

Tim Vyner, an illustrator from Bath, has spent the past two weeks capturing images from London and the Olympic Games as this newspaper’s official artist. What sets him apart, however, is how he “paints” - rather than using a pen and sketchbook he picks up his iPad.

For today’s mammoth nine-panel poster, featured on the “wraparound” cover of the paper edition of The Times, Vyner, 48, spent an evening walking around the Olympic Park “visually recording one view made up of multiple views”.

“I wasn’t standing in one place with my iPad on an easel,” he said. “I wanted to get a series of snapshots rather than one static scene.

“The challenge was to capture the scale of the Games on such a small screen.”
