Treason charges unlikely against suspects

FOUR of the Camp X-Ray suspects woke up in the subterranean high-security cells at Paddington Green police station this morning facing initial interrogations.

They will be the first suspects police can hold for up to 14 days under changes passed in the Criminal Justice Act 2003 in November, but they are expected to be freed on bail in days.

The fifth man was held under Terrorism Act powers which allow police to make a “port stop” when someone arrives in Britain. The man was not arrested but questioned before release.
