President Trump accused America’s intelligence services of plotting against his administration yesterday after it emerged that members of his campaign had often been in touch with senior Russian spies before the US election.

Members of Mr Trump’s campaign and other associates had repeated contact with Russian intelligence officials last summer, The New York Times and CNN reported.

The contacts were intercepted by the National Security Agency as part of routine foreign surveillance — and then leaked to the American press.
