Watford maintain their progress

Watford moved two points clear at the top of the Coca-Cola Championship after holding off a spirited comeback by Sheffield Wednesday to win 2-1 at Vicarage Road last night. The leaders were two goals up within 16 minutes through Darius Henderson and a penalty by Marlon King before Graham Kavanagh volleyed Wednesday back into the game.

Charlton Athletic climbed to second by beating Hull City 2-1 in a bad-tempered match at the KC Stadium. Both teams were reduced to ten men when Ian Ashbee and Lloyd Sam were sent off for violent conduct on the stroke of half-time. Luke Varney and Chris Iwelumo scored for the visiting team before Stephen McPhee struck for Hull in the dying minutes.

Bristol City lost the only unbeaten record
