Channel 4’s Alex Mahon couldn’t top the BBC’s racy content

Turn on the TV in the evening these days and there’s usually a raunchy sex scene to set pulses racing — but not normally on the BBC.
Yet it was Auntie’s director-general, Tim Davie, who lowered the tone at the Enders Analysis and Deloitte Media and Telecoms 2023 & Beyond conference on Thursday. Davie, 56, played a clip from Sir David Attenborough’s Wild Isles of slugs mating. “That’s how we do Naked Attraction on the BBC,” he joked.
Fresh from dealing with the fallout from the Richard Sharp scandal, Davie then gave an insight into the feedback he received from viewers following the intimate slug scene: “I did get an email expressing outrage at the ‘horrifying, explicit sex on our airwaves’.”
