The new world heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois dubbed himself the “king slayer” as he looked ahead to September’s all-British duel with Anthony Joshua in front of an anticipated 90,000 people at Wembley Stadium.

Dubois, 26, was officially installed as the IBF champion after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt to concentrate on his megabucks rematch with Tyson Fury.

The Briton will get to win the belt in the ring, and so shed any “paper champion” barbs, when he takes on Joshua on September 21. Usyk, 37, unified the division with his points win against Fury last month, but the IBF made it clear that the Ukrainian would need to fight its mandatory challenger before December’s rematch or lose that belt.
