JK Rowling

 JK Rowling is one of the best-selling authors alive in Britain and is ranked 175th on the Sunday Times Rich List, with a net worth of £945 million in 2024. The Harry Potter book series and its spin-offs are her most famous works, and are renowned worldwide among children and adults. She wrote much of the original series in coffee shops while living in Edinburgh and has since penned novels including The Casual Vacancy, as well as the Cormoran Strike crime fiction series under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. In recent years Rowling has been at the centre of the debate about transgender rights, arguing for the protection of women and children's rights and single-sex spaces. She has set up the Volant Charitable Trust, named after her mother, to help fund Scottish charities and projects.
