Peter Marlow, a Magnum photographer who died in 2016, was brought up in the Christian faith, leading to a strong sense of spirituality in his photography.

He decided to capture all 42 Anglican cathedral naves in England in a massive project over three years, which is being celebrated with an exhibition at Derby Cathedral, the 21st nave, during the summer.

The exhibition is organised by the Peter Marlow Foundation, a charity set up to continue Marlow’s legacy, and it is hoped that his ethereal collection of images will be shown at each of the 42 cathedrals he visited on his photographic pilgrimage across England.
