Just Stop Oil activists will stage a campaign to disrupt airports during the summer holidays, The Times has learnt.

The climate action group, notorious for blocking roads, defacing artworks and disrupting theatre shows and sporting events, is preparing to turn its attention to airports in a “sustained period of action”.

While it is unclear what form the disruption will take, a source within the organisation said that a protest at Stansted on Thursday, in which two private jets were sprayed with orange paint, was only a “prelude”.
