Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin receives Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal

On 15 July, Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER), received Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, who had taken up an official invitation from Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin. Discussions focused on the free trade agreement signed by the EFTA States and India in Delhi on 10 March.

Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin travels to China with a business and science delegation

The head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER), Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, leads a business and science mission to China from 1 to 5 July. The continuation of good cooperation in these areas is an important goal of the visit, not least with a view to further developing the bilateral free trade agreement that entered into force ten years ago.

Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin signs modernised free trade agreement with Chile

The EFTA states and Chile signed the protocol of amendment to modernise the free trade agreement in Geneva on 24 June. Switzerland is thus continuing its successful free trade policy and strengthening the competitiveness of the economy.

Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin attends World Leaders Forum at UNCTAD

Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin represented Switzerland at the World Leaders Forum organised to mark the 60th anniversary of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). He also held bilateral talks with a Chinese trade representative and Tunisia’s trade minister.

The following sub-index has barely changed compared to May 2023: economic outlook.
