Heat Continues for the East and South-Central U.S.; Strong to Severe Storms Across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast

The extremely dangerous heat wave continues across the East Coast and much of the South-Central U.S. today. Record high temperatures are expected for some areas especially across the Mid-Atlantic where extreme heat risk conditions reside. Very hot temperatures will combine with limited overnight relief to the bring the threat of excessive heat and increased risk of heat-related illness to lower Washington County and Zion National Park Saturday and Sunday. Consider shifting outdoor activities before 10 AM or after 4 PM and ensure proper hydration.
There is an increased risk of flash flooding for southern Utah national parks and recreation areas. Make sure to check in with local visitor centers or ranger stations before heading out and have a plan if threatening weather a pproaches.
