Merge

[edit]

Hello! Why did you merge this? One is a Hungarian party, the other a Slovak political movement. Q20439029, Q3366669 Pallor (talk) 09:27, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

And this? Q21508481 (family name), Q879511 (Wikimedia disambiguation page). Two completely different things. Also, you deleted all the descriptions. What is the point of this? Pallor (talk) 09:33, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
the former was mistake tbh, the later are officially disambiguation pages but when you look at them, you see that they only list people with the same names and are mostly identical and the descriptions made an error (and tbh is "Wikimedia disambiguation page" is all possible different languages even necessary) Braganza (talk) 10:43, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you know you messed up, you have to fix it, not leave it alone. Now if you look at the links to the two parties, it's a complete mess: the parties are given to people who don't even live in that country. These must be reviewed one by one and corrected based on the sources. Incorrect merging can cause a lot of chaos, this feature should be handled very carefully. Now you're in luck because less than ten people have links to the parties, but you need to verify these claims. Q20439029, Q3366669
In the other case, your thinking is completely wrong. The disambiguation sheet is the disambiguation sheet, and the family name is the family name. They don't mean the same thing at all. What you did is not a fix, it's a mess, you shouldn't do that. The decision of the Wikipedia editors must be respected: in some places they use a clarification sheet, and in others a list. there is no reason to overrule this.
I see that you often delete and merge, but I don't think you understand exactly what you are doing. Be careful, ask for help if you need it. Pallor (talk) 11:23, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
