MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WTVA) — A chase in northwest Alabama resulted in the seizure of tens of thousands of dollars, almost 13 pounds of marijuana and three arrests.

This happened on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at approximately 3:43 p.m. on Highway 24 in Franklin County.

A state trooper pulled over an SUV for speeding; however, the driver and the SUV sped away, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

The chase ultimately ended in Lawrence County, which borders Franklin County to the east.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of $50,000, 12.5 pounds of marijuana, 121 dosages of liquid THC and four guns, according to ALEA.

The driver, 29-year-old John Borelli, and passengers Darius Braden, 28, and Cor’tae Davidson, 20, all face drug trafficking charges.

Borelli faces other charges as well. Borelli and Braden are from Michigan and Davidson is from Minnesota.
