Grind to Glory: TCPS to rely on new crop of seniors

Tupelo Christian Preparatory School (TCPS) is replacing a lot of players from last year’s team.

BELDEN, Miss. (WTVA) — Tupelo Christian Preparatory School (TCPS) is replacing a lot of players from last year’s team.

The Eagles finished the 2023 season with an 8-4 record and lost to Vardaman in the second round of the playoffs.

More than 10 players graduated from that team.

This year's senior class will have to rise to the occasion.

“It's my last year and I want to do the best on my last year,” senior linebacker and running back Luke Finney said. “These are — I don't have a brother — so these are all like my brothers, and we're we push each other every day to get better.”

Senior Jake Franklin Ramsey said, “Everyday is a different day. You're going to feel different when you wake up and it's not always going to be easy. The grind hurts and it's going to hurt, but we got to get better.”

Among last seasons' graduating class was starting quarterback Brewer Bailey. Now senior Jeb Brown is lacing up his cleats this off season to the Eagles at QB.

He is not taking his new role lightly.

"It means holding people accountable, leadership. You know, got a bunch of young guys, got a bunch of new faces here, so got to hold them accountable," Brown said. "...they want to push themselves, so we push them to be better. "

TCPS will start its season August 30th against the East Union Urchins.
