Thanks! Updated the Old Englisc Wiktionary. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Orel Beilinson (talk) 08:42, 7 August 2012
I'm not sure if this was a good idea. He gave himself an IP block exempt and deleted pages with content which were there for years, see here. Trijnsteltalk 10:41, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
I don't know I can leave my humble opinion, I also concern about it. Although he just becomes temporary sysop, he does unnecessary sysop actions. I hope that such action is just his green behavior. Sotiale (Talk·Contribs) 11:22, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
I gave myself IP block exempt because I travel a lot and sometimes get autoblocked for open proxies, just like here on Meta. I've deleted pages that were spam, duplicate of other pages (Old English pages can be written in Runes or in Latin scripts, and those who are supposed to be runes but are just duplicated of the Latin script are deleted) or those which are not in Old English. The wiki has been stranded for a while, so I'm doing what a sysop should've done as it happened.--Orel Beilinson (talk) 12:44, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Due to credible concerns of your administrator actions, I am provisionally reversing your Old English Wikipedia flags, pending further reviews by other stewards. If other stewards can trust you, they will grant you flags. Considering the conflict of interest, next time, please ask us to grant IP block exempt with administrator flag, rather than doing it by yourself as the only administrator on Old English Wikipedia. For Old English Wiktionary, on hold until August 14, 2012.--Jusjih (talk) 15:02, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Calak@ckb.wikipedia

We have a small wiki with a few active users and unfortunatly we have no active administrator. As you can see from the discussion link, voting is over and the results are 4 supportive votes, 1 abstention vote without against votes (8 days: 1 August-9 August). Please do what you should do. Thank you very much.--Calak (talk) 00:03, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Excuse me! Who is responsible here?--Calak (talk) 19:26, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
@fellow stewards: Since this projects already have 2 permanent administrators, is permanent flag appropriate? --Bencmq (talk) 11:28, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Which administrators do you mean? We don't have active administrator, for example see Candidates_for_speedy_deletion.--Calak (talk) 12:30, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
@Ben: I also thought about this this morning, and considering 5 votes, 4 supports and one oppose = 80%, which usually is a pass on most projects and per the fact that the wiki already has two admins, I would also grant permanent permission here. -Barras talk 19:05, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Agreed with Barras. One admin inactive for more than a week; the other for more than a month. 4:0:1 seems like reasonable positive outcome for a small wiki. --Millosh (talk) 19:07, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
BTW, 4:0:1 is usually treated as 100%. --Millosh (talk) 19:08, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh sorry, I made an oppose out of the neutral. This way it is even better, I think a permanent flag would warranted. -Barras talk 19:16, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Your replay had me stuck. We don’t have active administrator and we need administrator now. Admin Aza left a message for me that I can't be active ([4]). For reasons I candidate for administration and users supported me. Now what am I suppose to do?--Calak (talk) 19:56, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
You don't need to do anything, we were just discussing whether we should give you the right permanently or just temporary. However, I just granted you the right permanently now. Have fun with your new mop. -Barras talk 20:02, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

On hold until 11 August. Maksat, please ask locally for confirmation at least 8 days before the expiration date. You'll get one year this time if other users from ky.wp are fine with that. --Millosh (talk) 21:11, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

I saw that, but we need to wait more than one day to see if everybody agrees with your adminship. Usually, it's 7 full days. Next time, please, make the local request at least 8 days before the expiration date for your adminship. --Millosh (talk) 07:42, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Idh0854@ko.wikinews

Hello, Dear steward. Because some problem is occurring, I request for judging this case. This discussion started 2011.8.27. It has proceeded until 2012.8.1. Because Devunt, as a temporary sysop, closed it as successful election. But Devunt's temporary sysop privilege was expired 2011.9.13. His expired day is wrong classified:Steward_requests/Permissions/Approved_temporary#Devunt.40kowikinews (Now, his sysop privilege removed). Better or not, this discussion closed by him and support rate result is 72.2%. Korean Wikinews don't have a rule about admin election. However, Korean Wikinews follow tacit consensus; If enough support rate is verified, any user do SRP. IMHO, It means respecting steward's judgement. But as far as I know, minimum support rate is 75%. (reference: his request rejected 2 times; here and here). I don't know what can I do. This election is rejected? or passed? I request that solving this problem. Thank you for your hard work. Regards, Sotiale (Talk·Contribs) 11:48, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

  • I've reviewed the discussion and the local elections page at [7]. I do not see a local policy or practice to deviate from the 75% threshold. The current discussion did not reach 75% in support. Therefore, I am marking this as not done for lack of community consensus. MBisanz talk 16:41, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Maax@sowiki

(Hi, I have been granted many times temporary adminship to sowiki. There are no other active local adminstrators. I would like to request to become a bureaucrat or Steward if possible. Otherwise a check user and prolonged admin will be great thank you ) Maax (talk) 08:28, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

There seems to be a bit of a confusion here. Stewards are elected annually by the Wikmedia community at large and are not appointed/elected for each local wiki. Check Users are elected by local communities and require certain very specific voting requirements which you can find at Check user. Bureaucrats are elected by the local community when there is a need, sowiki is a very small community with no active administrators, as such it doesn't have a need or the necessary community size for a 'crat to be appointed. I suggest that you merely seek a one year extension of your at this time. Snowolf How can I help? 15:16, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Ok Snowolf, thanks for your information. I think one year adminship is fine thank you Maax (talk) 06:39, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Tamara Ustinova@vepwiki

Hello! I propose here for a second time to grant me one more temporary administrator's access in Veps Wikipedia. I'm active in this project, but I'm a bit tired of it, and I can't promise that I'll be active after the access (that's why I don't want to have a "full" adminship). :) Local discussion (written in Russian & Veps) has been created some days ago. Thank you.--Tamara Ustinova (talk) 08:01, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Bureaucrat access

Magister Mathematicae@es.wikiquote

Back in March, a discussion on esquote village pump resulted on consensus that (following same pattern as the other spanish wikis), bureaucrat flags would be given to sysops. LINK.

There are only 2 local bureaucrats, the most active having only 2 edits in the current year. I contacted him on june LINK asking him to implement community consensus. After having no reply, I prodded him back in July LINK. Another month has passed with no result.

I think this is a clear case of no local active bureaucrats, therefore I request stewards to implement consensus that has been pending for 5 months. I request either the bureaucrat flag being given to all sysops directly, or it being given to me and I will perform the rest of changes locally (I'm a local sysop there). es:Magister Mathematicae 22:24, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

I've informed esquote village pump about this request. LINK. es:Magister Mathematicae 22:52, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
https://toolserver.org/~pathoschild/stewardry/?wiki=es.wikiquote — Wouldn't be better to give it just to the active administrators? Inactive people doesn't need any rights at all IMHO. Just a comment which I'll post at eswikiquote too. -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 10:08, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Done This can be best taken care of by MM himself. As such I've granted the crat flag as 'no active crats' to MM for him to implement. fr33kman 15:52, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Just a procedural question. If we require at least 10-15 votes in general to promote a person to bureaucrat status, here with just 4 votes MM has promoted all admins in a wiki to bureaucrat status which look certainly odd for me. -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 11:48, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
You're right... That's odd. Trijnsteltalk 12:59, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

There was a local discussion and consensus, and it should have been resolved without steward intervention.

Es wikiquote did have permanent bureaucrats who should have enacted such change (even with 4 votes) and stewards could not impede it. The only problem was that local bureaucrats were missing, and the only request for stewards was to fulfill the bureaucrat task due to they being away.

It was not asked for stewards to "decide" to grant permanent bureaucratship on a wiki with no bureaucrats. It was only asked to complete a local request that had 5 months pending plainly visible on the wiki's village pump and which no one in the community had objected for several months.

Please don't misunderstand me Marco, but the decision to validate the voting was not put upon stewards, only the implement what local bureaucrats should have done several months ago. es:Magister Mathematicae 15:51, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

-- MarcoAurelio (talk) 16:00, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
You also posted on the pump (after the changes) that you feel inactive sysops should not be promoted to bureaucrats. However I must point that local consensus was to promote "all sysops", not "promote only active sysops", and such it was not my right to decide whom to promote or not, only implement (locally) the local consensus (which was: promote all sysops).
If you feel that inactive sysops should not be bureaucrat, please achieve such consensus locally and it will be implemented. Meanwhile, removing them would have no ground on local policies or consensus. es:Magister Mathematicae 15:57, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
I already commented that issue over there. -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 16:06, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

TariButtar@pa.wiki

TariButtar (talk) 09:23, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

In principle, requests for bureaucrat access need local consensus. Please suggest local discussion. Without it, Stewards cannot grant 'Crat access to you. Sotiale (Talk·Contribs) 09:48, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Please note, that a vote to be successful, there should be at least 10 to 15 supports. When there are only a very few voters/contributors on the projects, we may not grant local bureaucrat rights. -Barras talk 12:08, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Question Question: Why were you and Cheveri, instead of Antur, elected? I counted the results and I had a different conclusion:
Platonides - 98,2% (55 supports, 1 oppose)
Antur - 93,2% (41 supports, 3 opposes)
Cheveri - 90% (63 supports, 7 opposes)
The support-oppose ratio is higher for Antur than for Cheveri, while Cheveri got more supports. Trijnsteltalk 14:00, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Because we order by vote difference (pos-neg) and not ratio. --Angus (talk) 14:03, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
You mean you count the votes, instead of the percentages? Anyway I just found it in the policy (Oversight policy#Access). Trijnsteltalk 14:05, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
We count everything, but to determine who will be elected, we order the candidates by vote difference: positive votes ("supports") minus negative votes ("opposes"). Do you understand now? --Angus (talk) 14:08, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
(after ec) Sorry for the misunderstanding. Yes, you're right. Anyway, DerHexer restored the rights - I got an edit conflict. :) Trijnsteltalk 14:12, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

User has accepted all the allegations against him and has supported the proposal ("मैं अपना मत इस प्रस्ताव के समर्थन में देता हूँ। अर्थात अनुनाद सिंह को प्रबन्धक पद से मुक्त किया जाय और विकिपिडिया पर उन्हें प्रतिबन्धित किया जाय।" — "I give my support in favour of this proposal. For what it's worth, this is not a rationale for de-sysoping. This is the summary of what is written there. Please take the disciplinary action as requested because he's just not stopping. Referring "crocodile tears" to people [in his latest comment] is farther away from civilized behaviour, which one could expect at any encyclopaedia, thank you and best regards.--Bill william compton (talk) 03:31, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Sorry for a delayed response over here, as I was a bit busy after Wikimania. At this point, I do not see consensus in the discussion to honor this request. More over, reading over the issues, apart from a bit of a harsh tongue from the user in question, I don't see enough evidence provided to cause the user to be de-sysoped and blocked from the project under an emergency action. One should provide more concrete evidences over misuse of rights or blatant personal attacks in order to support such a request, especially when it is made against one of the more experienced editors in the project.

Bill should also note that before coming up with such a request here, consensus should be reached in the discussion and enough time should have passed in order to allow the local users to make comments. The request here was made a day after the discussion started. Also note that partially quoting some one's statement without giving the context does seems like he is accepting all of it and asking himself to be blocked, but in reality, user stated that he does accept that he has told all those, but all statement should be taken in its context.

Thanks, and let me know if anyone has further questions.--Jyothis (talk) 20:10, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

The Dutch wiktionary has a policy that requires a minimum activity of 50 edits for sysops. The policy is present since the early beginning of the wiki, but was apparently not looked after. 6 of nl.wiktionary sysops do not meet this requirement and after a discussion on the wiki, I'd ask for the removal of sysop and (if present) bureacrat flags from the accounts:

Petr Tomasovsky@eowiki

A ballot for removal of Petr's sysop rights has yet occured in last April. Petr received 6 voices against / 4 for removal.
A new ballot occured in August. Petr received 1 voice against / 8 voices for removal.
In his user and talk pages he lets know that "Wikipedia is dead for him".
The case is clear --Arno Lagrange  19:05, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Since two weeks, he has not yet passed. The request was made on August 10th. Following our rules, the request will be submitted after two weeks: so on August 24th. --Arno Lagrange  19:09, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Petr few times abused his admin rigths: In February, July and August.
  • He protected his talk page meaning that Wikipedia is dead for him;
  • He blocked user Pejno Simono twice for no reasons;
  • He substituted texts of discussions from the same user (Pejno Simono) by template without reasons.
There are more reasons to remove his admin rights. Ĉiuĵaŭde (talk) 13:35, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Seeing the language above is somewhat erratic, I would like to point out the main issue. The current ballot on taking away this user's admin rights went 8:1 in favour of getting rid of him as an admin. He has on several occasions been grossly mis-using his powers as an admin. This second ballot ran for two weeks and in accordance with our local rules was closed today, 24th august, 2012. This means that herewith the request for his removal as an admin is now being placed officially. Therefore please be so kind as to remove the admin rights of user Petr Tomasovsky asap. --Pejno Simono (talk) 21:36, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

However, bureaucrats are only appointed when the community is sufficiently large and established. In this case, most users are not active on cawikiquote, but on other wikis; so until the community grows, please direct bureaucrat requests to Steward requests. There is two bureaucrats/admins on iu.wiki, but both are inactive since 2006 and one of them specifically says on his user page that he's not admin ([9]). I already made several requests on the irc channel for global admin only for minor actions and both of the global admin and myself loose time in this process. I'm monitoring this wiki for vandalism almost on a daily basis. I'm already temporary admin on cr.wiki for the same purposes. But, so far only one administrator has given appropriate support without any guidelines for future term. Further, it is to bring to your kind notice that my temporary admin-ship has been cancelled abruptly without any further reminder from your end. please send sufficient information by in-time to the lower cadre batch admins by higher archy. You have to notice and observe that how many members are visiting te.wiktionary daily, what are their activities, submission of sufficient qualitative as well as quantitative information etc. The higher archy have to also recognize the blossom buds wiktionaries like te.wiktionary, etc. Your co-operation must be required. I am also bring to your notice that some more discussions have been continuing about the te.wiktionary by some of my colleague members to bring the same to limelight as well as useful for all people. In the mean time it is to advise that the extension period for my admin-ship may be granted for further more months without any ambiguity or otherwise sanction the admin post as on permanent basis. As the te.wiktionary have not obtaining or daily visiting by sufficient active members for which election for the permanent post with the norms as advised by you is not possible at present. Hence one more permanent admin post should be sanctioned to any person by you immediately. JVRKPRASAD (talk) 16:33, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

I spoke earlier with Laaknor, and he told me two or more votes are needed for permanent administrator status. Isn't that right? It's difficult to find persons to vote at such small and inactive wikis and more than two people is going to be very difficult.Obelix 20:51, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi E THP.
  1. The bot owner has to request the bot flag himself on Steward requests/Bot status IIRC.
  2. Do you want to *have* CU rights, or do want a CU to be *performed*? We can't do the first, but the second one should be requested on Steward requests/Checkuser.
  3. For that you have to start a local discussion, for example in the local village pump - for now it'll be expire in September.

This has been almost a month, but I don't really understand the request here. Could someone explain this or if E THP could clarify it? So we can get it processed. Bencmq (talk) 16:13, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

What do you mean by "permanent management"? Administrator/Sysop rights? Access to robots? Do you mean that you want to give the bot flag to accounts? -Barras talk 19:07, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Looks like this user doesn't know English well. I sent this user a request in Russian, in the hope that he will understand it better on his home Wikipedia talk page. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 11:32, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
