Severe flooding in Moradabad; people forced to use boats to commute
MORADABAD: Heavy rains have caused severe waterlogging across Moradabad city, leading to dangerous water levels and forcing evacuations in severely affected areas like Bholenath Colony.
Boats provided by the administration are the only means of rescue for the residents. The biggest dangers are the insects, snakes, and scorpions.
Aarti, a resident of Bholenath Colony, shared her family's plight on Sunday morning, describing how they are trapped inside their home due to the flooding and living in constant fear of insects.

"We are living here with the constant fear of water entering our house. There are insects everywhere inside. We can only go out with the help of the boat, and there have been no rescue operations yet," she said.
Mintu, a rescuer in Bholenath Colony, reported that the water levels have reached 7 feet, and the unrelenting conditions are compelling people to abandon their homes.
"There is 7 feet of water here. Several people are leaving because their homes have submerged. I come daily to rescue people. With more rain, both the water and danger levels in the area are rising," he explained.
Previously, on July 3, images showed vehicles stranded on the waterlogged roads in the city, with people encountering difficulties traveling from one location to another.

Navbharat, a student grappling with the challenges of getting to school due to the waterlogging, shared his experience, saying, "My home is right across the lane. It has been very difficult to get transportation and go to school in this rain. There is excessive waterlogging everywhere. I had to take a holiday from school for the last two days due to the heavy rains."
IMD has forecasted light to moderate rainfall, with occasional intense spells accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, in regions of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and other states. (ANI)
