Dalai Lama’s birthday celebrated in Bylakuppe
Mysuru: The 89th birthday of the 14th Dalai Lama was organised by the Central Tibetan Administration at Dalai Lama Old Palace Bylakuppe in Periyapatna taluk on Saturday. BV Javaregowda, president of Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society was the chief guest of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Javaregowda stated that based on the Dalai Lama’s appeal the United Nations passed three resolutions in the General Assembly in 1959, 1961 and 1965 supporting the cause of Tibet.
He further said that the Dalai Lama was instrumental in promulgating the draft Constitution of Tibet.
“Dalai Lama has appealed to the Chinese government to grant autonomous status which has been supported all over the world,” he said.
Ken Rimpoche of Sera Monastery hailed the service of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. A statement issued by the Tibetan Parliament of the cabinet was read over on the occasion. Thousands of Tibetans participated on this occasion, according to a release.
