The audience seems to be loving the chills and the thrills provided by 'Munjya', which had resulted in massive box office success for the movie. On its third Sunday, the film earned Rs 6.85 crore, taking its total to a whopping Rs 98.35 crore gross.
However, the success of 'Munjya' should also be credited to the international audience, who have contributed positively to the total.
According to Sacnilk, the film has earned Rs 4.25 crore from the overseas market, taking the worldwide gross total to Rs 102.60 crore in 17 days. On its third Monday, the film added another Rs 2.10 crore to its domestic total. With these mammoth numbers, 'Munjya' emerged as the seventh Bollywood film of 2024 to enter the impressive 100 crore club. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, 'Munjya' stars Sharvari, Abhay Verma, Mona Singh and Sathyaraj in lead roles.
'Munjya' is the second movie from Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe to cross the 100 crore mark, following the success of 'Stree', which had earned Rs 182 crore in 2018. The makers are all set to roll out a second instalment of this horror drama, which stars Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana. The film is all set to hit the screens on August 15, 2024.
Speaking about the success of the film, Mona Singh had told IANS, "Storytelling has changed. Earlier, cinema was all about larger-than-life stories and big heroes. But now, with OTT becoming big in India, people are consuming good content. They expect a good story. And ‘Munjya’ is a perfect example. It’s a great story which is beautifully portrayed on screen."
