PM Modi should come & listen to people here: Rahul Gandhi in Manipur

GUWAHATI: Congress's Rahul Gandhi on Monday urged PM Modi to travel to Manipur and provide support to people impacted by ethnic violence. This was his third visit to the state in the past one year.
"In this huge tragedy, I request PM Narendra Modi to take one-two days off and come and listen to the people. It will comfort the people of Manipur," Rahul said in Imphal.
He began his journey from Assam's Cachar, where he interacted with displaced people from Manipur taking shelter at a relief camp at Fulertal. He then proceeded to Jiribam, just across the border, to visit another relief camp.
He later flew from Silchar to Imphal, from where he went to relief camps in Churachandpur and Moirang. Thereafter, he met Manipur governor Anusuiya Uikey. After the meeting, Rahul said, "We expressed our displeasure and said that we are not happy with the progress that has taken place here. I don't want to go further into politicising this issue, that's not my intention."
Refusing to take questions from reporters, the Congress functionary said, "Please respect what I am saying. I have come here to give a clear message. I am not interested in answering questions designed to divert the issue... I have made my statement."
Hours before his visit, miscreants fired at an armoured vehicle of security forces in Jiribam. A security source added that two have been arrested.
