Cathy Glass's early books were interesting and very readable, but I'm afraid her last few books have become far too detailed and now read more like the log which she completes for Social Services. We really don't need - or want - to know how many pieces of shredded wheat her young charge eats for breakfast, whether he cleans his teeth, what his mother was wearing when Cathy dropped him off etc. Neither are we interested in reading about all the e-mails that Cathy receives from total strangers, and how she replies to every one of them (something I find rather hard to believe, as she claims to receive so many of them; after all, there are only 24 hours in each day.) It's almost as if she's trying to impress us with what a good person she is. Which I'm sure she is, but we don't all want to keep hearing about it.
I'm afraid I discarded this book after ploughing my way through the first 8 or 9 chapters; I'm sure it gets more interesting as it goes on, but I just lost interest and couldn't be bothered with all the unnecessary detail. Sorry Cathy, but perhaps the time has come for you to concentrate on what you're good at - fostering - and leave your writing to more proficient authors.

Ever Cathy Glass book makes me smile and makes me cry several times. This book is no exception.
Beautifully written. I couldn't put it down and completed the book in just one day. Cathy appears to be the mum that all children deserve but too often, so many have no experience of a "normal" loving family. And there are times when they do have a loving family but they need a little help and support.
I would encourage everyone to read all of Cathy's book as they're all genuinely fantastic and open your eyes to things you may be unaware of when it comes to Fostering and Social Services. The children is these stories will stay with you for a lifetime.

This book was amazing as always. Cathy is a brilliant foster carer and cares for all the children like her own and supports them throughout the time they are in her care. This book was my holiday read and i think It only took me 2 days to finish t asi couldn’t put it down. I’d definitely recommend Cathy’s books.

I enjoyed reading this a lot. It covered more ground and really let us in to how the writer felt which was so interesting. I liked the different situations and I felt I was getting more of a feel for the real person.
Without carers such as this outcomes would be a lot worse in my opinion.
Had slightly a sad feel as a career gently winds up.
I wonder how gentle it will be though and the lure of getting involved and making a difference will be too much.
The bureaucracy is getting worse in so many aspects of life fostering seems to be no exception.
It should not be forgotten the core reason for fostering and this does no to be lost in red Tape.
This book encouraged me in our nearly 40 year journey looking after our nearly 40 year old severely autistic son. We have a full time staff team looking after him in his own property. Outcomes can be good when enough time understanding love are shown
