Roles and Responsibilities
- Leigh is the Group Chief Operating Officer and sits on both the BBC Board and Executive Committee, as well as the Commercial Board.
- She has responsibility at board level for key functions including: Finance, Operations, Technology & Product, Distribution, Legal, HR, Property, Procurement, Commercial, Rights & Business Affairs, and Quality, Risk & Assurance.
- Leigh is also responsible for the planning and delivery of the BBC’s transformation agenda, and strategic projects.

Biography
Leigh joined the BBC as Group Chief Operating Officer in February 2021 taking responsibility for critical functions including Design and Engineering, Finance, Legal, Commercial Rights and Business Affairs, Quality, Risk and Assurance, and Procurement. She is a member of both the BBC’s Executive Committee and the BBC Board - reporting to Director-General, Tim Davie.
Leigh has worked in a range of senior executive positions spanning operations, finance, strategy, and transformation roles. Previous roles have included Managing Director of Customer Operations at British Gas and Group Director of Strategy and Transformation at Centrica.
Earlier in her career Leigh worked in the theatre as a classical ballerina and then contemporary dance artist, working in the USA, Europe and Africa. She is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of South Africa.
