A court in Latur (Maharashtra) on Tuesday remanded a Zilla Parishad school teacher in the custody of police till July 2 in connection with the alleged NEET-UG exam irregularities.

The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested four of the four accused in the case. So far, it has arrested Zilla Parishad school headmaster Jalil Khan Umar Khan Pathan and detained Jadhav after it emerged that at least four persons operated a racket to help NEET candidates. All four accused were booked under the recently notified Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. Read more.

Independent MP from Bihar's Purnia Pappu Yadav on Tuesday asked why no re-examination is being conducted.

After taking oath as a member of the 18th Lok Sabha, Pappu Yadav also said that nobody discussed the issue of NEET or special status and development in Bihar.

He further asked why no re-examination is being conducted for NEET exams and why the initial exam is not being cancelled.

"Who will talk about the youth? Nobody discussed NEET or special status for Bihar or the development of the state. So, I said so...I said Re-NEET. The people of Bihar have faith in me, and I will not let them down," said Pappu Yadav.

“It was not sent and we could get it only on June 20 when the EOU was called to Delhi and the issue was raised as to why the samples were not sent despite three reminders. We got it there and soon it was discovered which centre the booklet belonged to. We could match 68 questions right there. Thereafter, the attention shifted to the centre, which was Oasis School, Hazaribagh,” he added.

NEET 2024 Row Live Updates: A Nationalist Congress Party leader (Sharad Chandra Pawar faction) delegation led by Rohit Pawar on Monday met Maharashtra governor Ramesh Bais, demanding that the state government enact a law similar to the one adopted by the Centre to curb paper leaks.

"We met the Governor, and several issues were discussed. We have tried many times to bring the law passed by the central government regarding paper leaks into the state. We have also raised the issue of the drug racket at Pune University," Pawar said.

"We have talked to governor about the issue of paper leaks. Earlier, Uttarakhand governor had taken measures concerning the paper-leaks and brought anti-paper leak laws. Similarly, we have pledged to the governor to take measures and bring anti-paper leak law to address this issue," he added.

NEET 2024 Row Live Updates: On Sunday (June 23), the NTA conducted the NEET re-exam for students who were affected by time loss. They were first awarded grace marks, but the decision was later called off. The centre said that those students can either take the re-exam and go with the new score or keep the old score (without grace marks).

Only 813 of the 1563 eligible candidates appeared for the NEET re-test.

A senior officer from Latur police said, “The Initial probe revealed messages of financial transactions were shared between the accused. Jadhav confessed to assuring students of clearing the exam in exchange for money and sending hall tickets of many students to Kongalwar.
