"As we have seen this year, in times of crisis, the world so often tilts toward conflict. Factions form, ideologies clash, and urgency breeds discord. Yet, as this report shows, it is when the walls come down and communities work together towards shared goals that we see all sides prosper. "At New Zero World we recognize that the climate crisis transcends borders, industries, and beliefs. "It demands unity, empathy, and shared responsibility." | Natalia Vega Thank you to all those who have supported our work over the last 12 months - so much has been achieved by this community. We are ambitious and excited about what's to come! #ANewErainClimateCommunications #climatechangecreativechange #collaboration #climateaction #storytelling

One of the highlights of last week's Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity Awards Ceremony was the speech given by Maria Ressa, recipient of the Lionheart Award, Co-Founder and CEO of Rappler, and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. In her remarks to a room of some of the best creative minds in the world she said: "Imagine 'facts' as a brand. It’s not doing well because it’s boring. What would the world’s best creatives do to strengthen the brand 'facts'? And then please also add another brand - tackle 'truth.' What would you to do strengthen 'truth'? Because if we can do both, strengthen 'facts' and 'truth' as a brand, then we can restore 'trust,' which every brand in the world needs to grow. That brings along the best of all of us, the best of humanity. To lower our shields, to be vulnerable, to work together, and to build a better world." She was speaking about democracy, but her remarks can just as easily be applied to the climate and our existential struggle to reconcile misinformation, disinformation, and the human capacity for apathy. Our responsibility as advertisers is to create a narrative around facts, truth, and our collective future that is as enticing and liberating as any campaign we've ever created. We have at our disposal one of the most influential, culture-defining machines in marketing and advertising, with a reach that is unparalleled in human history. Let's now make a conscious effort to use it in a way that is towards a better goal than we have used our power up to this point. Day 2 at #GoalsHouse Cannes: a day focused on storytelling, collaboration, and disruption. The day began with the Earth Public Information Collaborative (EPIC) hosting a roundtable on “The Most Important Brief” - a global campaign to align brands, the creative community, global media, storytellers, and the science community around Goal 13: Climate Action. The discussion covered the primary drivers of behaviour change and how EPIC is set up to scale sustainability messages globally. Moderated by Natalia Vega, CMO, Earth Public Information Collaborative, the event was convened by Tim Kelly, Executive Director, EarthHQ-Global Commons Alliance, and featured remarks from Katja Iversen, CEO, Museum of the United Nations-UN Live and Christopher Moscardi, Marketing Director, New Zero World Samantha Barry, Editor-in-Chief, Glamour, and Deborah Joseph, European Editorial Director, Glamour then co-hosted a lunch exploring how advocating for empowerment, equality, and consent can revolutionise societal norms. With contributions from İpek Ersavaş, Vice President/General Manager, MAC Cosmetics and toofacedcosmetics.com, UK & Ireland, and Dr. Rebecca Swift, Senior Vice President, Creative, Getty Images, the group discussed the importance of brands going beyond their core purpose or CSR initiatives in pursuit of change. Thereafter, Project 17, Toptal and WeTransfer hosted a lively panel discussion, which was moderated by Gail Gallie, Founder, Project 17 and featured Taso Du Val, CEO, Toptal, Damian Bradfield, President, WeTransfer, Leah Davis, CMO, SailGP and Ndubuisi Uchea, CEO and Founder, Word on the Curb. The discussion focused on how we can accelerate progress towards the achievement of the Global Goals, recognising the high degree of disruption this will require. In the evening, EY co-convened a dinner with the Royal College of Art to discuss the power of design in unlocking and accelerating change, particularly in industries which are hard to abate and highly regulated. Industry leaders explored the unique role of design in finding the sweet spot between commercial growth and sustainability. Hosted by Peter Neufeld, Head of Business Transformation, Innovation & Experience Design, EY and Nicolás Rebolledo Bustamante, Senior Tutor in Service Design, Royal College of Art, the event was moderated by Raquel Bubar, Managing Director, T Brand Studio International at The New York Times. Day 2 of Goals House Cannes closed with Cannes Lions Green Alliance Partners - HOPE Hydration, Mio and dentsu (and their media agencies Carat, dentsu X and iProspect) - hosting a dinner focused on radical collaboration. The evening facilitated new connections between activists, social entrepreneurs, communicators, and corporate leaders, with the discussion centred around the importance of partnerships in the protection of our planet. The climate and nature conversations are hotting up at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. In the three years since we have partnered with the organisers, particularly focusing on how we can support emerging talent through our Young Creatives programme, we have been able to see the momentum building behind the need for a change to business as usual. Through our white paper A New Era in Climate Communications we wanted to build an understanding of what good looks like.when it comes to the creative industries and climate communication. Yesterday, at our Most Important Brief roundtable at the Goals House we were delighted to be joined by more than 40 delegates from across the globe to discuss how we turn insight into impact, through the Earth Public Information Collaborative. Put simply #EPIC is a group of leaders from across creativity, communications and tech working together to solve the nature-climate crisis through culture shift. If you're in town and interested in getting involved, please get in touch or head to https://epicplanet.org/ to find out more. Many thanks to everyone who joined us yesterday to share their time and expertise. It is time for that power to be put into service of future generations by helping to ensure a safe and sustainable world for all. “Our vision is for a world where everyone is inspired to be a part of the climate solution, knows what they can do and has the opportunity to do it. That is only possible if we overcome the barriers to climate action through the power of communication and creativity and we hope today will mark a significant step forward on that journey.” On Tuesday, June 18th we’ll be at the Goals House at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, joined by Katja Iversen, CEO of the Museum for the United Nations, gathering leaders from the creative industries and byond, to begin work on a world-changing campaign; ‘The Most Important Brief’. Delivered through the Earth Public Information Collaborative (EPIC), which we launched in partnership with the Global Commons Alliance, this is a first-of-a-kind collaboration aligning brands, the creative community, global media, storytellers and the science around SDG Goal 13, an urgent call to action on climate change and nature loss. 📢 If you would like to attend or find out more about how you can get involved, please email us at hello@epicplanet.org #climateaction #climatecommunications #climatechange #EPIC #CannesLions #communications #advertising #UN
