The Declaration of Independence states: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. —— Protecting the health and safety of the public is one of the core functions of government. Additionally, the government enables citizens to live the American dream. They provide loans and services for citizens to start a small business, buy a home, or pursue higher education in a college or university. Whether they are a veteran, a senior citizen, a student, a traveler or the victim of a national emergency, the government touches your life at important moments from birth to death and beyond at work and at play. Individuals and businesses expect Government customer services to be efficient and intuitive, just like services from leading private-sector organizations. There are heroes across the government that work tirelessly to provide the best services possible under sometimes difficult rules, politics and circumstances. They deserve to be recognized.
