Principal Engineer - Highways

Role Summary

WSP wishes to recruit a dynamic, self-motivated Principal Engineer - Highways to join the UK CRC Development team in Bengaluru and closely work with our UK Offices which provides detailed infrastructure designs for both public and private sector Clients.

Your principal role will be as a principal design engineer working within small teams produce designs and drawings related to roads and highways to support planning applications and construction designs. You can expect to be active on a number of projects at any given time.

Responsibilities

Production of detailed highway designs and construction drawings for various UK projects including residential, industrial, commercial, transport, water, retail, health and education projects.

Mandatory Skills
 Strong communication skills and the desire to be a part of a successful close knit team
 Solid experience in highway infrastructure design including horizontal and vertical design (highways, junctions and roundabouts. highway detailing, traffic signs, road markings, kerbs, pavements and vehicle tracking.
 Fully conversant with software like Civil 3d / Open roads
 Expertise in UK/International projects essential in particular in the application of DMRB/MfS/Local Highway Authority Design Guides or similar design standards and developing designs and drawings in compliant with Section S38/S278 applications
 Experience and an interest in helping the junior members of the team in producing designs
 The ability to produce, site appraisals, design calculations, design and construction drawings and writing reports.
 Proven experience taking responsibility for line management, supervision and/or mentoring junior team members
 Problem solving and originality.
 Cultural awareness, conscientious and an open mind are essential requirements for the role.
 High degree of self-motivation and ability to motivate others.
 Ability to work under pressure and with no supervision.
 Ability to check and review work to ensure quality deliverables.
 A proficiency in AutoCAD, PDS Signs, PDS Lines, Auto Track, MS Word and MS Excel is also expected.

Desired Skills But Not Essential
 Knowledge of UK highway drainage design including design to Section 104 of the Water Industry Act and Building Regulation technical approvals would be advantageous,
