TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) – A mural of Elvis Presley has been vandalized in downtown Tupelo.

The mural in the Reed’s alleyway was ruined by yellow paint, and was discovered on Tuesday.

The mural was painted back in September of 2020 by Morris McCain, who is already starting to fix it.

McCain said this is not the first time that someone has defaced one of his murals, and he believes the same man cut off the same mural’s head.

He said when it was first vandalized, it was a 3D model of the late singer and Tupelo native.

McCain said he pressed charges Tuesday morning.

Tupelo Police have made an arrest after an Elvis Presley mural was vandalized.

Wednesday, the Tupelo Police Department confirmed that 39-year-old James E. Pickler, of Tupelo, was arrested and charged with felony malicious mischief in connection to the investigation.
