He was a test-administrator for the wiki (then Wp/nso). So I'm requesting that he gets the sysop bit on nso.wikipedia. Preferably for 1 month. ~~EBE123~~ talkContribs 18:08, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

bennylin@idwikipedia

Hi, I'm requesting a temporary adminship for a month in Indonesian Wikipedia only to implement the AbuseFilter (EditFilter). The current local admins have been made aware of this extension, but none has yet to try it. I've tried it on another project, id.wikt. Therefore with the approval of the community, I'd like to try this on the project. Currently, other than being steward, I also serves as sysop in id.wikt and id.wikisource. Bennylin 11:04, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your understanding Bennylin. We want to keep Thai projects other than Thai Wikipedia alive. Ideally, we want to recruit new editors for those projects and have them elect admins of their own. However, for the time being, B20180 as an ambassador from Thai Wikipedia will be on a temporary mission on those sites. We will be working closely with him and assisting him in every aspects. Due to a language barrier/for quick and effective result, I wrote this request and earlier request on his behalf. --Taweethaも 06:44, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

I'd say yes due your activities in this project (and you're the only admin). Your adminship will be renewed for another 6 months (until 12 May 2012). For this project, I'm suggesting you're seeking for community approval for permanent adminship, because there's no other admin in this project. Bennylin 11:24, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Վազգեն@hy.wikisource

Please give Administrator access per local consensus. Thanks ― Teak 05:18, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Done Granted for 6 months to expire on 2012-05-05. Please remember to translate the interface at translatewiki.net only and preferably upload images to Wikimedia Commons. To prolong your adminship, please come back a few days before the status expires or hold a local election if the community grows. Thanks. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 17:12, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Please kindly advise what are the community size requirements to have a permanent administrator. A discussion lasting 7 days was held, which ended with 6 votes for, 0 against. The community has at least 6 active members who are active daily, and an established and fast growing proofreading program. ― Teak 20:39, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
I'd like to add that Վազգեն is one of the founding members of the Armenian Wikisouce, has been continuously contributing to and enriching the project ever since (starting in 2006), has held temporary adminship for a period of six months in the past, and has currently been elected for permanent adminship with 100% of the vote. Could you please reconsider changing it to permanent? Thank you, Chaojoker 21:21, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
In fact, the situation is borderline. I hesitated before giving temp access, and as this user is active here for many years, was already a temp sysop and has the full trust of the community, I'm okay to move to permanent adminship. Cordially, -- Quentinv57 (talk) 18:16, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Teak@hy.wikisource

Please grant permanent adminship per unanimous community support. Thank you, Chaojoker 02:01, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

Done Granted for 6 months to expire on 2012-05-08. Your community may not be sizable to warrant permanent adminship yet, per Requests_for_comment/Minimum_voting_requirements#Minimum_requirements_to_elect_permanent_Administrators.-- Jusjih 12:00, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
Oh, finally I see some documented discussion around this issue. Thanks for linking to it! :) Jusjih, according to that discussion, most of the contributors think that a minimum of 5 supports with 2/3 ratio is enough. Here we have 6 supports with 0 against. Also, please take a look at [3], where this community was deemed to be borderline, and permanent adminship was granted. To throw some more weight onto the tipping scales: I am one of the founders of the project [4]; I have been a temp admin on this project on 5 previous occasions (6 months each) [5], [6], [7], [8], [9]; I am a permanent sysop on hy.wikipedia and am one of the oldest sysops on the project (since 2007 [10] - although increasingly inactive, since I currently prefer to spend my wikitime on hy.wikisource). Thanks for your consideration. ― Teak 16:10, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
I've moved back the status to "In progress", as apparently this request still needs a review (see diff). I'd like to comment that I granted permanent sysopship one week ago, because I agreed that the community is now large enough. Regards, -- Quentinv57 (talk) 09:01, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
A Wikisource-project has urgent needs of admins to maintain the namespaces related to the proofread-extension. The conflicts you often find on Wikipedia are rare on this kind of project. So, please, do not compare with Wikipedia. -- Lavallen 10:32, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
Done granting regular adminship while reconsidering and understanding your specific reasons similar to Steward_requests/Permissions/2011-11#.D5.8E.D5.A1.D5.A6.D5.A3.D5.A5.D5.B6.40hy.wikisource, without intending to make this the precedent for all kinds of wikis. As Wikisource, Wikipedia, etc. have different situations, whether to grant regular adminship to wikis with limited active users depends on specific situations.--Jusjih 13:08, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the consideration! ― Teak 20:11, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi Stewards. I'm just requesting temporary sysop and bureaucrat permission for the Manx Wikipedia. The one permanent sysop (no local 'crats present) and one regular editor (it's a very small wiki) has requested that I do some vital maintenance to MediaWiki space (mostly css/js, some mainpage). I also need to set bot bits for the local interwiki bots and do some anti-vandal renames. I've applied and been granted admin/crat on this wiki a few times before & it's kinda an annual ritual :) I just need access for one or two days, is all. I've had it temporarily there a few times before, and I'm a sysop and bureaucrat on the Irish Language Wikipedia. Thanks, guys / maith agaibh / gura mie eu- Alison 03:57, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Bdk is also elected again (who already has the rights), and Rax was also elected, but he isn't identified yet. I left him a note about this. We'll now have 5 persons with checkuser rights in the future, that makes things a little easier. :-) --Geitost diskusjon 01:49, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Abd@en.wikiversity

I'm requesting emergency desysop due to some rather rash actions this morning. Abd failed his "RfA" several weeks back, and was only allowed to continue in his probationary position following a certain agreement (which he just deleted), and under the understanding that his use of tools would continue to be non-controversial. See local link for details. Thanks. --SB_Johnny talk 15:03, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Unlocking a known cw-troll is definitely the best way to loose flags but doesn't seem, imho, an emergency, anyway the situation is now under observation, obviously any other similar action will bring to an emergency deflag. --Vituzzu 15:16, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
I thought it might help the stewards to notice that since there are two phases to custodianship there are usually two pages related to granting someone tools. The second page, is not directly linked in the local links page by SBJ. The actual voting by the community and close as "a permanent probationary custodian" is here. This was something of a unique case in that Abd was clearly doing lots of good work, but was not trusted by many to have custodial tools. The compromise was suggested that he be allowed to keep the tools as long as he was subject to the standard stop agreement, and the closure was based on this compromise. To be honest it is my opinion the stewards should not be too distracted by Poetlister's name (there was no consensus what to do about him one way or another). A very concerning aspect of this is the fact that he changed the conditions under which he was allowed access tools. Thenub314 20:14, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
IOW, en.wv has a rather strange system of giving people sysop access before the "RfA", a system we adopted in the hopes of avoiding the drama we saw going on at en.wp's RfA discussions back in 2006. We probably should have requested a separate usergroup for probationary custodians long ago, but somehow we managed not to do that.
I am a 'crat on en.wv, and I hope the stewards will be willing to "assume good faith" on my part that I will absolutely restore the tools should there be community support to do so.
I closed the discussion that was our equivalent of an RfA in an unusual manner in the hopes of preventing further drama.
So, through an error of my own, we have a "temporary" sysop who has been acting outside of the terms he agreed to. It would help us greatly if you could act on this request, with the assurance that we can give him the tools back if there is community support to do so. --SB_Johnny talk 23:18, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

I really think you should ignore requests from IP. Specially from this range, which is used to evade a block and make mistaken requests in bad faith as this one. We were almost reaching consensus on that discussion, but it was not clear yet (it is not closed). I don't think that there will be any problem with the removal of this flag, but I'm sure that any further removal a little controversial will be handled incorrectly by this person and might lead stewards to an incorrect decision.” Teles (T @ L C S) 00:19, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Bellavista1957@fa.wikisource

After I made a request to de-admin User:Kaveh on faws due to inactivity (the above topic) User:Bellavista1957 blocked me for 6 months for nothing. I asked User:Mardetanha to unblock me and luckily he did. I hereby make a request to de-admin User:Bellavista1957 because of misusing his administrator access. Unfortunately Mardetanha and User:Pedram.salehpoor don't reply to my complaints against Bellavista1957. It seems that Pedram.salehpoor is busy in his real life because he recently doesn't edit on faws very often and doesn't reply to his talk page requests or even his mails. And It looks that Mardetanha doesn't want to involve himself in controversial issues. Please save the project of dictatorship of an admin who can't tolerate any kind of criticism of or opposition to his mistakes. Thanks in advance Americophile 18:08, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, but you will have to start a desysop discussion locally now that you are unblocked. This is not an emergency and you are clearly biased in this regard. PeterSymonds (talk) 18:10, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
Our community doesn't have enough active users (users just come and go). Other sysops show no interest to solve the problems. I asked Mardetanha and Pedram.salehpoor to consider my complaints about 3 weeks ago but no positive response was received. Americophile 18:18, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
I'm afraid we can't help without local approval, unless this administrator does something particularly outrageous to warrant an emergency desysop. If we acted on this, it will set an unhealthy precedent for the future. PeterSymonds (talk) 18:32, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
I think those sysops who abused their powers shall not be tolerance because they did it and chances are they are going to do it again. It's not if they abused old members because old members know where to seek help from but how about new members? They will just leave and never come back and how do they suppose to defend themselves against abusive? What will they think and tell people they know about wiki in general? I can totally understand it, i have been abused before by sysops that can't argue against me so they ended up blocked me for some reasons they can easily made up. They did it to shut my mouth so they won the argument. I'm seriously think i have a pretty rotten system right now, we need harsher punishment for sysop who abused their powers. Many of the abusive cases went unnoticed and even if it's noticed, nobody made a big deal about it and then what happen next? They will continue to do it and nobody does anything to stop it.Trongphu 23:45, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

វ័ណថារិទ្ធ@kmwiktionary

Greetings from Khmer Wiktionary and other sister projects! I am one of the admin team in Khmer Wikipedia. Currently there is no admin in Khmer Wiktionary, plus every small number of regular and active contributing users. So I am requesting a sysop right to maintain the project and promote awareness among Cambodian users. Lately, I have been networking with other like-mined fellow Cambodians and doing some localization on Templates, Categories, and Help pages...etc. Per the local community approval, I got 5 voices supporting my request. Thank you! Let me know if you have any inquiries.--វ័ណថារិទ្ធ (Vantharith) 12:25, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

I see you got two opposes. I'm i right? Matanya 13:11, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
I think those are part of the template. Looking at the history I only see edits from the five supporters and the nominee. Someone who understands Khmer should verify that, though. Jafeluv 14:04, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Comment For the record: one vote is from an IP, 3 are from users that just went to vote (not part of the community) and 1 real vote. -- Màñü飆¹5 talk [es] 14:48, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi and thanks for your questions. The result is indeed 5 votes vs. 0 - the 2 items you saw in Opposing are part of the template. And thanks for the common note - yes, among the 5 votes, 4 are actually helping out at Khmer Wikipedia project. There are only 2-3 active contributors, and many other bots. Our Khmer Wiktionary has been abandoned for long while, that's why I am here to request for sysop. We are now building ground networking to recruit more volunteers and to match their interests/skills accordingly to our Khmer Wiki projects. You can have a look at some of our efforts here - Fan Page on FB, #kmwp twitter account, blog... And in case you need a Wiktionarian who is knowledgable in Khmer language, you can contact User:Stephen. Hope this clarifies. Thank you! --វ័ណថារិទ្ធ (Vantharith) 15:28, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
As some of you have figured out, there are NO votes against. There are only 5 votes for. Yes, one is an IP. What’s wrong with that? You can do a checkuser on the IP if you think it is fishy. Anonymous users can vote like anyone else. One of the "3 are from users that just went to vote" was me. I do most of the Khmer entries on English Wiktionary and I did not "just go to vote". He got 5 honest votes. Khmer Wiktionary is one of the small wikis and it is difficult to get any votes. The Khmer Wiktionary has no sysops and desperately needs one. Here is a willing volunteer who is native Khmer and who knows good English. He’s a goldmine and he got 5 votes, with no opposition.
We had this same problem on the Navajo Wikipedia and could not muster more than two or three votes. We got our admins in spite of that weakness and look what a boon it has been for the Navajo Wikipedia. You should give this willing and competent volunteer the buttons that he is asking for. Stephen G. Brown 21:16, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Alhen@ay.wikipedia

Hey there, I'd like to ask for a 3-month temporal admin flag. I've been talking with Ruben from Jaqi Aru(an Aymara community oriented to promote Aymara language and culture) and we have planned a series of workshops to improve the contents and community on Wikipedia in Aymara. The flag would help me to move some pages, clean up some help pages that still exist with Spanish names and create users from the same IP when necessary. I already have admin flags at es@wiki commons and a couple more. I also intend to drop the flag in three months and then let the future community choose their own admins. --Alhen 15:29, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

On hold Hola Alhen. Esperaremos una semana antes de ponerte los botones en caso de que no haya oposición. Un saludo, -- Dferg 15:35, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
Done, expires: 26/11/2011. Please remember to translate the interface at betawiki: only and preferably upload images to Wikimedia Commons. Miscellaneous requests

Hemant wikikosh@sawiki

I am a sysop on sawiki. For my work I need to import pages from enwiki. Please provide me rights for the same. Thanks. -Hemant wikikosh 14:21, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

Hello Hemant wikikosh. Please provide a link to any community discussion showing support on promoting you. Please note also that administrators have 'import' rights. If you want to easily import pages from enwiki to sawiki then you could also ask for defining import sources from sawiki for transwiki import. Best regards, —Marco Aurelio (Nihil Prius Fide) 14:59, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
This was exactly my doubt. I read that sysops by definition have the right, but when i try it, it gives error that 'no transwiki source found and upload import is not enabled.' This means i have to get transwiki source defined. This is the page where i got sufficient support for admiship (request was first declined and then endorsed by another bureaucrat (user:HPN). Please tell if source can be defined thru this website. And if so, kindly enable the same (i hope support for adminship implies support for import rights, if former includes later).-Hemant wikikosh 15:22, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
Please, visit https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/ and ask for transwiki sources at sawiki to be defined. We can do nothing here. Ruslik 15:36, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
