The vibrant pulse of community spirit echoed through on the first Sunday of Happy Streets as people gathered for a morning full of wholesome activities.
Sunday, which should be all about
fun and
wellness, was celebrated in the form of ‘Happy Streets’ for the second consecutive week, with more people joining in this time.
“It is good to see people come together and enjoy themselves.
It is a reminder of being happy and sharing moments of fun and wellness while creating stronger and happier connections,” said Rashmi Kapoor, 55, after performing morning yoga at The Times of India’s initiative.
The streets came alive in the early morning hours with music, laughter, and the hustling of enthusiastic participants. While children played freely, families strolled side by side, and neighbours reunited over common interests.
There was something for everyone: from fitness fanatics participating in group workouts to people participating in games such as carrom, cricket, football, archery and shooting.
Arun Sethi, 52, a corporate worker, who came to the event with his granddaughter said, “My granddaughter danced her heart out to the Punjabi beats during the Zumba activity. She also won a carrom match against me and what is better than getting defeated by your granddaughter,” said Sethi.
All-time busy roads temporarily converted to vehicle free zones providing opportunities to all the age groups to drive bicycles with full enthusiasm.
Anas Ashfaq, 47, a civil servant said that for his family and him becoming a part of happy streets is no less than a custom.
“On Sundays, we set aside our hectic routines and engross ourselves in pursuits that strengthen our bond. Happy Streets makes en during experiences that we cherish all year long. It was a magical Sunday
morning for my family,” he said.
