Lakshmikanth takes charge as Mysuru DC
Mysuru: A 2015 batch IAS officer, Lakshmikanth Reddy, on Friday took charge as deputy commissioner of Mysuru district from outgoing deputy commissioner KV Rajendra, who has been transferred as tourism director.
Reddy, who has served as Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) commissioner for almost 3 years, visited Chamundi Hills and offered prayers at Sri Chamundeshwari Temple before assuming office at 10.15am on Friday.
Additional deputy commissioner P Shivaraj welcomed him.
Reddy said he will use his experience in the MCC to focus on the development of the district. Speaking to reporters, he said that he is lucky to be appointed as Mysuru district DC. I had focused on fixing issues when I served as MCC commissioner, which will come in handy now to do my job, he stated even as he stressed that problems in urban areas is different from rural areas.
Later, he attended Janasapnanda meet at Nanjangud and received petitions from the public.
Seema Latkar takes charge
Meanwhile, IPS officer Seema Latkar took charge as the commissioner of Mysuru city police. She is the first woman IPS officer to hold the post. Two days after her appointment, which was put on hold briefly, the 2011 batch IPS officer came to the Mysuru city police commissionerate, where she was welcomed by DCPs M Mutthuraj and Janhavi and other senior officials, and assumed charge.
