No flaw in Ram temple construction: Misra

AYODHYA/LUCKNOW Ram Temple Construction Committee chairman Nripendra Misra on Tuesday ruled out any flaw in the construction of the temple and asserted there was no water accumulation in its sanctum sanctorum while rejecting the claim of chief priest Acharya Satyendra Das regarding seepage of rainwater from the temple’s roof.

“There was no water leakage, but the rainwater came down from the pipes fixed to install electric wires. I have inspected the building of the temple. The second floor is under construction. When the roof of the second floor is finally constructed, the rainwater will stop entering the temple,” said Misra while speaking to reporters here.

“I want to assure you that there is no flaw in the temple’s construction work. Twice every month, engineers from CBRI (Roorkee) come to Ayodhya to review the ongoing construction work of the temple. They also submit their report,” said Misra.

The temple construction committee had roped in Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, to review and examine, every month, the ongoing construction of the temple.

“On the advice of seers, water is being collected in Ram Mandir’s sanctum-sanctorum in a small kund, and not flushed out after Ram Lalla’s jalabhishek. This water is used by seers,” he added.

“As no devotee is being allowed in the sanctum- anctorum, only priests are performing jalabhishek of Ram Lalla. So, this water is limited,” he asserted.

“As the temple is open, therefore in case of heavy showers, rainwater might come inside the temple’s sanctum sanctorum,” said Misra.

Alleging negligence in the construction of the temple, Ram Janmabhoomi temple chief priest Acharya Satyendra Das had on Monday alleged that there was no arrangement for the draining out of rainwater from the temple premises, after the showers on Saturday midnight, and urged temple authorities to take corrective measures.

“Rainwater was leaking from the roof directly above the place where the priest sits in front of Ram Lalla’s idol and where people come for VIP ‘darshan,” he said.

‘Portion of Ram Path caved in due to sewer line’

The Ayodhya administration on Tuesday clarified that a portion of the 12.90- km Ram Path caved in at Rikabganj due to a sewer line.

The road was constructed under the defect liability period clause of five years. Under this clause, any damage to Ram Path over the next five years will be repaired by the construction agency.
