Despite the scorching heat and the fierce competition, the Dow Jones Dragon Boat Team captured the Bronze medal in the Mixed Small Boat Race of the recent 23rd Hong Kong Dragon Boat Short Course Races. This competition brought together colleagues from different departments who bond together over their love for the sport. “This is the thirteenth year of the Dow Jones Dragon Boat Team, also the first race after COVID. The team trained very hard in the last three months," said Simon Wan, captain of the team. "Team sports and races are not always easy, but the Dow Jones team demonstrated their commitment and determination." Congratulations to all of our Dow Jones paddlers!

It has been 462 days since our colleague, WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich, was wrongfully detained by Russia for simply doing his job. The Wall Street Journal’s Beth Kracklauer penned a moving story about how Evan’s colleagues and supporters around the world are expressing their solidarity by cooking his favorite foods. “Food has always been a love language in our family,” his sister, Danielle said. “And it’s the same for Evan.” Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/eSJR8YXb #IStandWithEvan Photo credit: Lanna Apisukh for WSJ

Dow Jones today announced two major initiatives that reinforce our key revenue drivers and subscription goals–the acquisition of A2i Systems, a world leader in AI-powered fuel pricing solutions, as a subsidiary of OPIS, A Dow Jones Company; and a new, multi-year data, news, and analytics partnership with LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group). Based in Copenhagen, A2i becomes both a companion for our energy business and an accelerant for deploying AI across our products and our workflow. Our partnership with LSEG will further drive our digital subscription business for enterprises, expanding the reach of our news and information products and services among core financial audiences and infusing more market data into our newsrooms. “Make no mistake, he’s in that glass box for doing nothing more than being a reporter and he needs to come home.” Dow Jones EVP and General Counsel Jason Conti joined Fox and Friends this morning to discuss the illegitimate trial of The Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, and the urgent need to fight back against autocrats who detain citizens as bargaining chips. "It’s jarring to see him in yet another courtroom for a sham trial held in secret and based on fabricated accusations." Today, Dow Jones CEO and Wall Street Journal Publisher Almar Latour and Wall Street Journal Editor in Chief Emma Tucker released the following statement after reporter Evan Gershkovich appeared in court to face an illegitimate charge by the Russian government. In a letter to readers today, Wall Street Journal Editor in Chief Emma Tucker wrote about the upcoming sham trial of our colleague, WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich, and the critical role of media organizations in reporting responsibly on the proceedings and the baseless allegations Evan faces. “To even call it a trial, however, is unfair to Evan and a continuation of this travesty of justice that already has gone on for far too long.” Read the full letter here: #IStandWithEvan #JournalismIsNotACrime https://lnkd.in/dBRsvSsY

Loved attending Cannes this year to share this message! At a time when we face so much disinformation, trusted news organizations like The Wall Street Journal are a very safe place for brands to launch impactful campaigns — and sophisticated ad tech is just making it safer.
Brand safety and the importance of supporting quality journalism were key topics at this week’s Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. At Journal House, Dow Jones CEO Almar Latour joined Vanessa Otero from Ad Fontes Media and Jeff Green from The Trade Desk to discuss how trusted publishers are providing transparent, brand-safe environments and how smart CMOs are supporting first-rate news gathering that serves the greater good. Anchoring the conversation led by Phillipa Leighton-Jones was a new study from HarrisX - a Stagwell Inc. company, which investigates brand safety by exploring the impact of ad adjacency for advertisers working with publishers–the findings of which debunk long-held misconceptions around brand safety in news contexts and challenges advertisers to reassess their investment in “hard news.”

Last week was an incredible week at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity! For me, this year wasn’t just about what I learned, but what I observed. While emerging tech and AI are on every marketer’s mind, each engagement, activation and interaction I had was authentically human, meaningful and motivating. Several of those moments took place at this year’s Journal House, which was one for the books. Expertly curated and beautifully styled, thanks to our live journalism team at Dow Jones. I continue to be blown away by the thoughtfulness that goes into every detail. Until next year!
