The AARP Livability Index platform relies on multiple, interconnected metrics and policies to determine how communities meet the current and future needs of people of all ages, regardless of income, physical ability, race or ethnicity, as measured by 61 indicators across seven categories of livability. A new analysis of the data underlying the AARP Nursing Home COVID Dashboard finds that COVID vaccines are still saving lives in nursing homes. In fact, even a moderate improvement in facility-level vaccination rates, for staff as well as residents, can significantly reduce the impact of COVID-19. Data from last winter’s COVID surge shows that facilities with resident vaccination rates of at least 75% and staff vaccination rates of at least 50% had fewer COVID-19 cases and many fewer resident deaths. As of May 2024, only 30% of residents and 10% of staff in U.S. nursing homes were up to date on COVID-19 vaccination, but there are still many facilities with both immunization rates above 90%. #COVID #Vaccines #LTSS https://lnkd.in/eP4jAVtv

Research points to both positive and negative effects on parents’ wellbeing, and further study is needed. Since the start of the Affordable Care Act, millions more people ages 50 to 64 have health insurance coverage, and the uninsured rate among this group has dropped 46 percent. The ACA – now 14 years old – has played a critical role in expanding access to affordable health coverage for millions of adults ages 50 to 64, including through its health insurance marketplaces.
