Chef notes

This viral sensation is not-surprisingly satisfying. It offers the perfect crunch and blending of flavors, and if you're a pickle and cheese lover like me, you'll love this combo.

Technique tip: When a rubber spatula can easily slip underneath the cheese as it begins to harden, then you know it's time to roll around the pickle.

Swap option: You can use any cheese that melts well (muenster, mozzarella or cheddar are all great options).

Ingredients

  • cooking spray
  • 10 slices provolone cheese
  • 10 dill pickle spears
  • 10 slices ham, jalapeños and mustard (optional)

Preparation

1.

Heat cooking spray in a nonstick skillet over medium heat.

2.

Add cheese, and let it melt and become golden around the edges.

3.

Lay pickle spear in the middle of the cheese (at this point, you can also add ham, jalapeños, mustard or anything else you'd like to layer on).

4.

Once cheese starts to harden, use your rubber spatula to gently fold the cheese around the pickle, forming a burrito of sorts.

5.

Remove and rest on a paper towel to soak up any excess oil. Repeat with your remaining cheese slices/pickles.  Enjoy!
