I adore the simplicity of this drink. Some of my favorite cocktails are only three ingredients (like a Negroni, for example). In a lot of cases, less is more.
Technique tip: To achieve a thicker consistency, add more honey than water when preparing the honey syrup. This adjustment will help improve the texture as desired.
Ingredients
- 1 cup honey
- 1 cup water
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 3/4 ounce honey syrup (recipe above)
- 3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
- lemon twist, to garnish
Preparation
For the honey syrup:
Place honey and water in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook until honey fully dissolves.
Place in a heatproof jar, bring it to room temperature and seal with a lid before storing.
For the cocktail:
1.Add the bourbon, honey syrup and lemon juice into a shaker with ice and shake.
2.Strain into a chilled rocks glass over one large ice cube.
3.Garnish with a lemon twist.
