1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:

2. Fill in the values:
   • 'domain': the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
   • 'user name': the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). Leave it blank and list them yourself if you're requesting access for multiple bots.
   • 'discussion': a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser]]").
3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of identity

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to confirm their identity. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also submit the relevant identification to the Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until receipt has been formally confirmed by the office.

Hi. I see that your request there was started on March 3. We need to allow at least a week (seven days) for the community to have time to manifest itself. It is also possible, however, that the project may not have a permanent, active community that will be able to support a permanent administrator at this point. If you feel that this is the case but have need of administrator access in order to do maintenance work, please consider making a request for temporary adminship, in the appropriate thread below. The Turkmen Wikipedia has two administrators who are in active for more than two years now. I'd like to be an administrator there, because categorizing of pages is necesary. There are some pages to be deleted since they were just copied out from other wikis as they were. Presently I'm about to complete the translation of the Milestone 1 in Betawiki. With the permission I will clean up and arrange Turkmen wiki what I have been trying to do in recent months. The Cornish Wikipedia is somewhat inactive, and I'd like to be given the chance to change that. With sysop permissions I will attempt to finish translation of the interface, keep an eye on Category:Candidates for speedy deletion, and try to make it easier to link and sort articles. This would be on top of my efforts to increase the site's scope and create the vital articles at w:kw:Wikipedia:1,000 erthyglow. I know I'm not even autoconfirmed there yet, but I've familiarised myself with WP policy, and thought there's no time like the present. Hello, 1. the interface translations should never be done locally but only on betawiki: where all interface translations go, so they are not only locally but everywhere available and where the translations are documented to avoid common errors like translating variables or keywords which would break the interface. 2. please open a local announcement, we cannot grant You adminship whithout that. If there is no local community we could grant You a temporary period, but only if You can assure not to translate locally, but for this You need a local announcement anyway. Comment: we clearly need a better manual for how to get started with a fresh, clean wiki and a half-dozen editors. It makes sense for any such group to start out with temp sysops, for instance. -- sj | help translate |+ 01:11, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's different now, though, because we work with the Wikimedia Incubator. Technically they can hold their own elections on the test project before their "real" project gets created (I've seen this done in the past). I think some sort of Manual exists on Incubator. The incubator & betawiki are great for interface translation and initial work. Small wikis don't tend to get underway with temp sysops, all the same. We should have a "small wikis guidebook" that shows people how to do the typically overlooked things : renaming special pages; translating core pages that are linked in headers/footers; bootstrapping by creating administrivia pages (community portal/cafe, bot policy, administrators page, deletion policy & templates); when to ask for countervandalism or steward help.
