Why New Delhi needs a national security strategy
What’s holding New Delhi back from promulgating a National Security Strategy that would streamline such decision-making and help its aatmanirbharta campaign in defence?

Pursuit of durable peace in West Asia
Both sides in the Israel-Hamas war are focusing on the method (violence) and not on the goal (peace with dignity), which is a sure recipe for more violence.

The Agnipath scheme needs a pause and rethink
Such a fundamental churn should have been implemented in stages through pilot projects, just the way short service commissions and the entry of women was done in different branches.

India’s armed forces are apolitical. Ensure that they remain so
The Indian military belongs to the nation and not any political entity, and any action that besmirches this standing will be deleterious to their professional prowess

India’s air strike on the terrorist camp in Balakot has made its intentions clear – hereafter, a strike by Pakistan through unconventional means will not go without a response on Pakistani territory, and will not be restricted to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

No made-in-India tag yet
To get our military shield or dhaal a genuine ‘Made-in-India’ tag, maybe we need a Nelson Mandelasque ‘Truth and Reconciliation Commission’ to help see the truth. It is time the defence sector in India opened its doors to private players. Manmohan Bahadur writes.

Cowards don’t make history
Last year, around this time, the agitation against the Kudankulam nuclear plant was making front page news. After government’s emissaries failed to convince the locals about the project, an emotive approach was attempted: the government sent a son of the soil, a famous scientist and who had been the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
