Maoists blow up 12 buildings of Jharkhand forest department in West Singhbhum district

According to Superintendent of Police Indrajeet Mahatha, a group of armed Maoists had barged into the buildings in Berkela forest area of the district on Saturday night and asked all staffers to vacate the premises.

“Preliminary investigation showed that the Maoists had also felled trees in the forest to prepare a route, which they would have possibly used to attack the security forces,” the SP said.(PTI Photo)

Jharkhand’s Covid-19 tally rises to 3,663, death toll at 24

While the maximum 21 cases were reported from Garhwa district, 15 cases were detected in Ranchi. Besides, East Singhbhum and Koderma recorded 13 cases each, Chatra reported 12 cases and Ramgarh registered 10 cases.

The swab samples of Hemant Soren, his wife Kalpana along with their two sons besides 19 official and household staff of the chief minister’s residence were taken on Saturday morning by a team of doctors and medical staff led by civil surgeon VB Prasad.

Crisis at Dhanbad’s Covid-19 hospital as doctors skip duty

Covid-19 hospital nodal officer cum senior medical officer of the district’s health department Dr Alok Viswakarma admitted that doctors of the BCCL Central Hospital did not report for duty in the first shift, which starts from 6am.

The dedicated Covid-19 hospital of BCCL has a capacity of 100 beds, which, however, got overcrowded with a total of 104 patients at the hospital till Thursday .(Twitter)
