As per tentative calculations, the authority will earmark around ₹1,200 crore for civil department, ₹100 crore for village development, ₹100 crore for horticulture department, ₹300 crore for maintenance work of civic services, ₹150 crore for water department, and ₹1,500 crore for land acquisition, among other allocations
The budget meeting was chaired by Mayor Baljit Singh Channi. It will now be sent to the Punjab department of local bodies for approval. In 2023-24, the MC had approved a budget of ₹76 crore.
The suggestions are to be sent to the ministry by June 17 and the full budget for 2024-25 is expected to be presented in Parliament in the second half of July.
