One of the most pressing problems limiting the adoption of additive manufacturing is having people who are trained on the technology . This is not just 3D printing but what we call additive manufacturing, the whole process. That starts with designing parts for AM. Quoting the work or estimating the cost. Programming the parts and optimizing the program. Yes 3D printing and post processing the parts. And finally inspecting and shipping the parts.

The Cincinnati State Workforce Development Center offers a training program titled: Additive Manufacturing Technician: 3D Printing for Industry https://www.cincinnatistate.edu/wdc/AdditiveManufacturingTechnician
Responsible for single class each session on large scale extrusion thermoplastic additive manufacturing. As a bonus I usually present some on post processing as a lead-in to the section on post processing.
The presentation is infused with the concept that everyone is capable of innovating. Each person has a unique experience and from the unique perspective they have a unique ability to innovate. Collaborating with someone with a different perspective can accelerate that innovation process. -
Soccer Coach

Children
Coach kindergarten children to High School men in soccer at the recreational level. The goal is to have fun and instill a love of athletics at an early age. To teach them how to play on a team. To teach them to be better people. Keeping perspective that close to half of the children in our local Elementary school go out for soccer, few, if any, will become professional athletes. Many have used their training and have gone on to truly excel in NCAA athletics besides soccer.

Finest achievement was to start the Kindergarten soccer club in 2004. We start kids the first fall in Kindergarten with a fun set of drills and scrimmages one day a week. This not only initiates kids in soccer but it builds community with parents who gather for an hour on Friday evenings to socialize. The mantle of running the club has passed on year after year with new volunteers. It had improved greatly when I ran it again in 2008 and has continued to grow and improved every year. -

Laser 101
Laser Institute of America Education Series
Presented Laser Cutting 101 at LME. The recording was subsequently used as a training program by the Laser Institute of America. The presentation included, How does a laser resonator work, what is the difference between a CO2 resonator and a Fiber resonator. It also included a discussion of gasses needed for laser cutting and a discussion of machine drive systems. A small summary of material handling was added as a conclusion.

BAAM Podcast
Rick Neff, BAAM Sales Manager at Cincinnati Incorporated, talks about 3D Printing on a BIG scale.
Big Area Additive Manufacturing (BAAM), started out with small 3D printing projects such as printing tools, fasteners and components of large machines, and more. BAAM now is printing parts for the aerospace industry, and even 3D printed a life-size Shelby Cobra, using advanced laser sintering techniques, for higher accuracy, at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2015.

3D Printed Car - IMTS 2014
Documentary filming, and production of time-lapse video for the building of the world's first 3D printed car, live on stage at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), at McCormick Place, in Chicago. For this project, Local Motors partnered with Cincinnati Inc., and Oak Ridge National Laboratory to develop the technology to print an entire car, and assemble it with less than 50 other parts over the duration of one of the largest trade shows in the industry.

Second is the combined strength of the collaboration between Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Cincinnati Incorporated to do things greater than each individual organization can achieve on its own.
Great teams from both ORNL and CI have created an innovative product, BAAM that can 3D print large, durable, affordable parts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXvIMRklWiM http://www.e-ci.com/baam/ -
