'Purananooru' is an anti-oppression sort of film, says Sudha Kongara
Earlier last year, it was officially announced that actor Suriya is all set to join hands with director Sudha Kongara once again for a film titled 'Purananooru'. But due to some reasons the film has been postponed and reports that the film will be made with another actor. Meanwhile, director Sudha Kongara has opened up about what the film 'Purananooru' is about.
'Purananooru' is said to be a film with a story against Hindi imposition.
In a recent interview, director Sudha Kongara said, "It's a anti-system story. That's what I like. It's an anti-oppression sort of film. I think in all my films I have fought that thing of oppression."
Giving an example of her film 'Irudhi Suttru' starring Ritika Singh, "It's a girl boxer and how does she break the barriers and she gets in. Its been very difficult for most women I think, because we have to accept the fact that it is so many years of patriarchy. You have accept it and beat it. Every kind of separation, division and oppression exists," she added.
"'Purananooru' is also an anti-oppression kind of film. It just believes that, "This is my faith and belief. I fought for something, I own it and why should I do something somebody else is saying," added Sudha Kongara.
