DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! This place is a scam. When applying for insurance I was abroad and had decided to extend my trip. My last insurance had run out and renewing it would have been too expensive. So I bought this insurance. They make a certain bit of information deceivingly hidden. You have to be in the country when apply you for the insurance for it to be viable. So when I discovered a new allergy by having an extreme allergic attack in Vietnam that led to me having to be hospitalized for 4 days; I thought my insurance would cover me. No. I spent hundreds of money to cover the cost and discovered later that my insurance was basically null and void from start to finish, as I hadn't been in the country when I applied for it. A crucial detail that allowed them to get away with not doing their job, that I paid well for, in covering me. If I hadn't happened to have had just about enough money. I could have been screwed. I could have died, because they like to hide behind their small print. Please no one use this business.

Exceptional service from Kevin on the customer liaison team. Switched on Insurance provide cover for my mobile device and when my wife recently upgraded her mobile I recommended she took out a similar policy. She encountered a minor technical problem when setting up the account, which Kevin resolved promptly with courtesy and efficiency.

If you try to make a claim you will encounter a web deception…
none of the emails worked when trying to make a claim\
shonky website, users are unable to EDIT anything after inputting info.
Hours have been lost getting to this stage.
In the end need to phone them, then you get emailed back by another company who tell you the EXCESS is more than the Switched On website says.
something very DODGY about all this, literally dodging things.
Was passed onto 'csal.co.uk'
Then 'Gallagher bassett'
AVOIDANCE STRATEGY.
Incredibly frustrating. WASTED HOURS AND HOURS!!!!!

I have been trying to enquire if the gadget insurance policy I purchased (and currently pay for monthly), covers my iPhone as it was bought in the USA and also, if it covers international travel. I have had to email back and forth for several weeks now, with each response not reading my previous email and therefore my questions still remain! It’s a very simple enquiry and the responses I have been receiving have been absolutely preposterous! I don’t even want to imagine the incompetence that I could be confronted with, if I actually needed to make a claim one day! SORT IT OUT!

Policy seemed good value but not having the ability to create your own password, but instead being forced to use the password that has been emailed to you, is very surprising. It’s 2024, I have accounts with hundreds of websites and this is the only one who can’t allow me to create my own password. If you can’t provide me with a website that allows me to create my own password, I have no faith that you can keep my personal information (which includes date of birth and credit card details) safe. So I will be exercising my 14 day cooling off period to cancel it.
EDIT: the response below just reiterates the problem and makes no attempt to resolve it. I will still be cancelling this policy.

Getting the discount for a yearly purchase is a good start. And the quote given to me was easy to understand and was straightforward.

Their policy wording covers the most improbable things only.
Flight delayed for example:
The delay has to be longer then 12h otherwise you are not getting anything.
Let's say you are staying longer than 12h, there is another condition. They will want to know the reason of the delay. Policy only covers for 3 reasons.
Adverse weather conditions(not catastrophe)
Strike or industrial action
Mechanical break down.
Adding multiple conditions which have to happened in a certain order following a precise timeline will make it impossible for you as a costumer to ever comply with their policy wording.
The weather will never delay a plane departure for 12h in row unless is a catastrophic evert but then you are not covered.
My general advice for everyone is to Avoid this company.

My flight from London was delayed and eventually I was re-booked with a new itinerary by the airline 24 hours later.
I submitted my claim and uploaded all documents required except for a letter from the airline as to why the flight was delayed which was not forthcoming. I submitted other information as to why the flight was delayed ie the aircraft left its home base 8,5 hours late and arrived 6,5 hours late into London making the return flight to the airlines home base 6 hrs 20mins late leaving London Heathrow.
This delay caused me extra expenses in hotels, flights in Thailand along with ferries.
The fact that the airline emailed me twice advising me of the initial itinerary's flight from London leaving late that I forwarded with my claim along with many other documents proves without doubt that the original flight was delayed. They still want a letter from the airline stating why there was a delay. Purely the fact it was delayed and is proven as delayed can not be disputed the the claim paid.
This is just an excuse to not pay out a legitimate claim.
Disgusting to say the least.

Useless. A scam. Shouldn't even be trading.
Sent my missed flight and gave reasons and doctors signed notes and still didn't accomplish anything. Not good enough of an excuse that there was a death and complications. Laugh out loud at this "business"

Such a terrible experience, it took over 3 weeks for the claims journey and then they declined it making it sound like I was not taking care of my gadgets. Asked me more and more questions going over their 2 days reply limit each time. WOULD not recommend. Have been insured for years now with companies and its always been a smooth journey BUT NOT HERE!

The insurance company use another company call CSAL.co.uk to manage their insurance claims from their customers. I am very unhappy with the way they handle my claim for my missing flight.
I had a letter from the airline for the reason for the flight cancellation. The reason my claim was rejected is because the letter from the airline said it was operation failure and not mechanical failure.I had explain that I called the airline which is an Indian airline and they don't specify the actual problem but all their problems are classified as operational problems.
It seems to me that it is a very narrow and lasy way to reject my claim because of the word operations and not mechanical problems. I don't think they are international minded enough to understand different countries use different words.
The fact of the matter is the my flight was cancelled and I missed my connecting flights. My insurance cover missed flights and I had no control over the cancelled flight.
Do not buy from switched on travel insurance because when you need to claim you will have problems because the claim department is not with the company but sublet out to CSAL.co.uk
